Midseason Finale "Dark Was the Night"

We are left with many questions?
How does Teddy react once she learns her beloved Henry has died, and Owen didn't tell her?
In the wake of Henry's death, now that Cristina is aware of who died. How does Teddy treat her?
Alex and Meredith stranded out in the middle of nowhere?
What happened? Did the other car explode making the ambulance violently shake like it did? Or was the ground struck by lighting, like in the football game last season?
Do Derek and Meredith try and have another baby?

Yep, all valid questions. But this ep was clearly the first part of a two-part story, so we'll get answers in the second part. The only kinda problem is, the show won't return until January. Yep, you read that right, we'll have to wait until January to get the answers to all these questions.

There's a few more: What went wrong in the Jackson/Callie surgery? If it was a screw-up (no pun intended), how will it affect their careers?

Indeed, like I already said on another thread, this was season finale material in a show sure to have a next season already, all from a very evil show-runner, leaving us with all these major cliff-hangers.

About the car and ambulance crash, I didn't really understand the dynamic as well. Seemed to me that that the car just hit the ambulance kind of laterally and then tipped over, having the ambulance just move to the side from the impact. Or something like that.

And I like your screw-up (no pun intended) reference, Gusar! I had already thought about it myself. Too easy. LOL

OK not quite the mid-season finale, we're only up to Episode 9 and 24 Episodes are scheduled to screen this season. I agree that his ep was part one of a two part episode. And will be continued in Jan, which is six long weeks away. Thank God I have an extensive DVD collection as there is zilch on the telly to watch during the holiday period. Firstly I don't understand why everyone is so pissed about the cliffhanger. AS far as I'm concerned Shonda Rhimes is back to her best. This is the Grey's we all fell in love with in the beginning.

Now I have watched the ending so many times I am cross eyed. But if you study this scene closely there are three adults and a child lying on the ground and they all look dead to me. It may seem to some viewers that someone, possibly Alex or Meredith are dead. Seems funny that the ambulance looked like it was not even involved in the crash. And before the crash it was pouring rain, yet when Alex and Mer (with the baby in her arms) step out of the ambulance, it has stopped raining and there is a badly smashed car on fire, and four seemingly dead people on the road. Looks a little freaky to me. I think that Meredith's head injury is worse than it looks, and perhaps she is haullucinating these events. I have been on just about every Grey's website and read as many reactions to "Dark was the Night" and to me it seems as though everyone believes that Mer and Der will not get Zola back. Remember the judge that Alex visited in hospital, well he was receiving treatment for cancer. All Janet (the social worker) was told was the hearing was cancelled. Could that be what happened. The judge developed complications with his cancer treatments and could not hear the case that day. Janet would not be privy to that information. So my hope is that Mer and Der get Zola back. As for Henry's death, Callie and Avery's botched surgery. Not hard to figure out what will happen there. Seriously!!

@JanelleCoulton:

Several curious and interesting observations you make there.
I must say I wasn't really pissed about the latest episode's ending. It's true that I may have sounded that way, but I was mostly joking. I have nothing against cliffhangers and suspenseful finales, just as long as I'm sure the show will go on, of course! In fact that's even one of the major factors that always keep me coming back for more.

I confess I hadn't even considered that angle where Meredith or Alex might be dead (since we all pretty much know they aren't, right?), and I don't see the aftermath of the crash as any hallucination either... It's true that the ambulance's placement and (no) damage aren't easily explained, but I tend to chalk it up as budget constraints and I expect to fill in the blanks better when the show returns.

That's also an interesting angle about the adoption judge, as I hadn't considered that at all. Personally, I think that there will be some last ditch turn of events and Meredith and Derek will actually get Zola in the end. It's the kind of season ending that makes more sense on this show and overall on this kind of shows, so I have faith that it will happen in the end after many twists and turns.

And what exactly do you think will happen with Avery and Callie's botched surgery? Share with the rest of us.
