Episode 7.18 The Song Beneath the Song - Talk about it here

Holy fuck, the beginning is already painful as hell. Seeing Mark cry... have we ever seen Mark cry before? Hell, I don't know when *I've* cried the last time. But when Arizona started crying... I started crying. Lexie singing Breathe contributed to that too...Whoa, Arizona fighting for the baby, while Mark fights for Callie?? Arizona... who didn't want this situation, who does not like at all who the baby daddy is. As I said, whoa. "We can have another baby, we can't have another Callie." "So you're just gonna screw my girlfriend again?" ^ AAaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!! That is *so* a Joss thing to do... insert something where you can't help but laugh, despite all the crap happening around... God, stop fooling yourself Lexie! You love Mark. Go back to him! "I'm the father. You're not anything. You're nothing." <-- Ouch, now _that_ is heavy! Ok, Mark apologizes... and there go my tears again... And again, during Meredith's breakdown in the elevator... And a perfect finish to the ep: "Yes... I'll marry you..." I don't know about the rest of you, but for me this ep was a success. A total and complete success. It made be cry. With weeping and tears and a running nose, the whole works. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Thank you for posting this thread, Gusar. I was kind of absent from here this week. It's also always something to hear a grown man admitting he cried over a TV show episode. LOL Anyways, this one had its up and downs for me. Callie (well, Sara Ramirez) was clearly the best of all, as expected. The times when the episode didn't really work for me were the singing during the tense operating procedures and the tough decision making processes. Those felt a little odd and off for me, specially Owen singing... I don't know... The absolute high point for me was the ending, with Sara Ramirez performing "The Story" by Brandi Carlile in such a powerful way and what it all meant. I think I actually liked that performance better than the original song, and I actually had to go back and watch it again. Clearly the best moment of the whole episode for me. Still, on a dramatical intense episode like this, I was pleased to see Shonda still had to introduce a tidbit of the usual humor and more lightheartedness with that "Runnin' on Sunshine" goofy song right around the middle of the episode. Totally out of the blue, but well done. Back to some actual plot developments (whatever was left for those), yeah, Lexie is just playing Jackson right now, even despite what he said. And Teddy was kind of too much of a b* to Yang, imho... When Teddy said she couldn't teach Yang anymore, I actually thought she was going to complete the sentence saying that it was because there was no more to teach, but, well... wishful thinking on my part... I also thought that bringing Addison in was maybe a little unnecessary... Kate Walsh didn't even sing much, did she? Lucy should have been enough, imho. And now we're all curious about how the baby turns out... It should be fine, but still... Do you find this valuable? |

Oh, and so you guys know, we're in for another month-long hiatus right now, as the next episode is only going to be on the 28th April... Major bummer...:( Do you find this valuable? |

"1) It's also always something to hear a grown man admitting he cried over a TV show episode. LOL1) Haha. But hey, real men don't hide their emotions. Of course, real men aren't weepy pussies either. But when there's something as powerful as this ep was, I'm not afraid to say I cried. 2) You think that was good? Then get a load of this: Also, Chyler Leigh singing Breathe, that was amazing too. 3) Haha, same here. Preparing Teddy's exit form the show, maybe? 4) Yeah, that sucks. But hey, Calzona wedding on May 5th! Do you find this valuable? |

For the record, I don't see you as a weepy p u s s y. In fact, I was surprised you cried at all. 2) Thanks for the video. Sara's voice actually failed there a couple of times, specially at the beginning, but indeed this was a much harder and live performance, with no studio "aids", so it was still very, very nice to hear. The woman has talent and the frame to do this really well. I didn't think any of the other actors were even remotely as memorable as her. 3) I really do hope that Kim Raver doesn't leave the show! She's definitely the easiest on my eyes there right now! Also, I don't think it's gonna happen, with the whole Henry thing going on... 4) Yeah, the wedding is a must right now. Btw, for how long have they had gay marriage in America? It has only been legally introduced in my country less than a year ago, and the debate was huge. Do you find this valuable? |

"Yeah, the wedding is a must right now. Btw, for how long have they had gay marriage in America? It has only been legally introduced in my country less than a year ago, and the debate was huge."They don't. Well, it depends on the state. California had it briefly, but then came "Prop 8", a law that defined marriage as between a man and a woman. Washington, where Seattle is, doesn't have gay marriage. So What Calzona will do will not be legal, just a commitment ceremony. But who cares, MerDer has only a post-it and still everyone recognizes them as married. Slovenia is just now introducing a new family law. It'll allow gay marriage, though I don't know if they'll have full rights compared to hetero couples. And the gay couples will be allowed to adopt children only if one of them is the biological parent. Do you find this valuable? |

If not a post-it, I wonder what they'll come up with this time... I'm still not too sure if I recognize MerDer as married, though... I mean, they sure act like it, but actually married... I don't know... Do you find this valuable? |

Sorry I have been so busy with school works and friends that I barely have time....Anyway, I loved the songs but I think they should have been used in another episode or in different parts of the episode because sometimes that reduced the drama.... I was about to cry when Arizona was sitting next to Callie's bed but then they start singing and I smile because I love the song.... So it kind of ruined the mood for me.... But I did love the songs! Especially Breathe (2AM) and How to Save a Life and Running on Sunshine (which isn't a song that I would usually like but when seeing all of the couples together and singing that just made me really happy) :P Callie's voice is perfect and so is Lexie's!!! I wish I could have heard Cristina sing, though.... And a little bit more of Meredith and Addison :( Do you find this valuable? |

"Sorry I have been so busy with school works and friends that I barely have time....And you are very much welcome back, SuperJ! I wish we had a lot more people like you here posting their thoughts and impressions, but sadly we don't. I can't really understand it because this is a huge show and this site gets new members almost everyday... Are all those people that shy? LOL As I said, some songs fit for me and others didn't too much. Still, my overall opinion was still a positive one, even though I'm not too eager to see the same format again, as I'm not too big of a fan of musicals. It's funny the final song didn't work for you. I thought it was really well done and performed, as well as very powerful and meaningful. Do you find this valuable? |

****!!! She is sooo great I had no Idea until the show that Sara Ramirez actually does the song "The Story" better than Brandi Carlisle (sorry Brandi) but she and so many others on the show really rocked those songs, If she(Sara) doesn't win an emmy for her singing I will truly be amazed. I was in tears within minutes of the start of the show that night, being in a car accident myself that left me paralyzed so I was glad my boyfriend wasn't here that night, for the first time we didn't watch it together & I was bawling like a baby. Loved it!

Great episode. I didn't care much for the singing, felt like it was basically filler, but those who did sing had good voices. The storyline itself was fantastic. For a while I was convinced Callie was going to die, and Arizona and Mark would have to somehow reconcile their differences and raise Callie's baby together, but then my sentiments flipped and I thought Callie would survive and the baby would die, and when Callie found out she would break up with Arizona and reject Mark's support in her grief. I'm so glad it had a happy ending :) :) :) Not that I'm a sucker for happy endings or anything, but those GA characters go through so much crap. It was nice for once for things to go their way.

I though this ep was fantastic, I've watched it three time! Sara's singing was amazing and although some of the other characters couldn't sing as well, it didn't matter to me cause I was caught up in the sheer emotion of it all. For me it was brilliant acting all round :)
