Episode 7.15 Golden Hour - Talk about it here
Feb 18 2011, 5:23 PM EST | Post edited: Feb 18 2011, 5:23 PM EST
Meredith, looking to prove she is Chief Resident material, learns that anything and everything can happen in an hour's time when she steps up to run the ER for a night; meanwhile, Bailey sneaks off with Eli and gets into a little mischief, and everyone is surprised when the Chief's wife, Adele, shows up as one of the ER patients.

At SuperJ's request (though it really shouldn't be needed) and kind of overdue already.
Anyway, dish out, please!

Good timing with this post, I just got home a few minutes ago.
Anyway...

Holy eeeeeeeeeeeeff, I can't believe they did that elevator scene!!! That was... AAAAAAAAAAAA!! And extremely well acted by both Patrick and Ellen.

And nice to see Grey's still acknowledging it's roots - doctors having sex (and getting caught) in the on-call room. Though it's new that it was Bailey this time :). Derek's "Never ask me what I might have seen or might not have seen in there" was amazing.

Also, the drunk knife-in-head dude and his equally drunk friend were hilarious too.

But of course, they couldn't let us have *only* fun. They just had to have Meredith lose a patient. A father of a young boy no less. That was painful.

At least that other kid had it better, with Karev showing again his big heart by putting a child in pain before a major basketball game. And now there's no doubt whatsoever that he and Lucy will hook up.

"At least that other kid had it better, with Karev showing again his big heart by putting a child in pain before a major basketball game. And now there's no doubt whatsoever that he and Lucy will hook up."
Alex was the sweetest in this episode :) Lucy trying to get him to ask her out was really funny, and a well thought out strategy actually :P He gave up on tickets to go to a game with the girl he likes to perform a surgery on a 4 year old little boy AND even asked what his favorite color was to choose the cast. I was just like: "Awwwwwwwwww" <3

Bailey with Eli was definitely one of the highlights of the episode. They look so cute together. When Bailey was talking to Meredith she started shaking her head loads to Eli.... It was hilarious:

"I'm taking a nap. Uh, I'm sorry. What I mean to say is that I'm going to use this room to take a nap. Because that's what people do in these rooms when they're tired. Cause I have a child and a full-time job and work long hours, so I'm just tired. Just very, very tired."

But then Derek sees them and Bailey shrieks :P And what Eli says afterwards:

Eli: "So when's your next break?"
Bailey: "Ok, uh uh, no. This will never happen again-ever. Understood?"
Eli: "Sure. Until your next break."

And was that a spark of jealousy I noticed from Henry in relation to his wife going on a date with another man? It was so funny when he told her he had been on a 'date' with the guy because he had sort of been stalling for the whole hour, and told her about him living in the block above his mother's place and stuff. That was adorable :P

Character limits.....

I hope Adele doesn't have Alzheimer's! I mean, the fact would clearly create a lot of drama since the chief would probably go crazy about that but still... The chief had no right to say that to Meredith! How dare he! Telling her she sees Alzheimer's everywhere and comparing Adele to his wife! He ruined her childhood and then broke her mother's heart to go back to Adele! AND Meredith was just trying to help! How dare he!?!?!? I understand he was scared but as a doctor, he should have taken care of her, left her at the hospital and stayed to check on her, not say some bull**** to Meredith about how she is his wife!!! He said this to her:

"You've got Alzheimers on the brain. You buy a car and you start seeing it everywhere you look. Now, you've been working on this Alzheimers trial 24-7. I get it. Adele is not your mother, Meredith. She's my wife."

And yet again, HOW DARE HE!!!!!

When Meredith was talking to Cristina about being her baby's godmother and not Callie's and they said:

Meredith: "Whereas if you're my baby's godmother-in-waiting. It's only me and Derek. One wrong turn down a dark, twisty road. Boom, you're in."
Cristina: "I will NOT be taking care of children. That's what boarding schools are for."

It was hilarious!! :P

I think that Callie shouldn't have said that to Meredith, about not telling her it was the chief's wife... She should have understood that there were critical patients before Adele. But still, she is crazy hormonal pregnant.... I just wish we could have seen more of her, Arizona, Owen, Mark and even April! I twas a very Meredith-centered episode, and I like that, but I missed some of the other characters as well.....

"Character limits....."
OMG!! The guy with a knife in his head!!! And when Cristina asked him math questions and he couldn't answer :P He was fine! A guy with a knife in his head was perfectly fine!! And when that idiot friend of his pulled it out!! It was so funny :P And the guys kept on drinking beer and Lexie was like "How many do you have?" :P And nothing happened to him when that idiot pulled the knife out!! And when the guy was playing with his eyebrows and moving the knife and everybody was yelling at him to stop :P How the hell did he survive!?! I was like OMG!!!!

I was sooooooo sad when Meredith's patient died.... And when she had to tell his son, Max and was tearing up (so was I). It was heartbreaking :( I felt so sad for all of them.... And Meredith's hesitation before calling time of death.... All the man wanted to do was go to the game with his son :(

And that stupid woman who was dating another one of Meredith's patients, the one that had a stroke. She was such a b****!!! I mean, all she cared about was a stupid trip when the guy she had been dating for over 2 years and whom she shared a house with could have died! I mean seriously?!?! I loved when he took away her keys. I actually thought he was going to apologize to her when he asked her to come back, but he did something even better :)

There was some MerDer fluffiness which I LOVED!!! The elevator scene was really funny :P I love it when they are together :) And the way Meredith took care of the ER was excellent! She prioritized the patients and gave them as much care as she could, even talking to the chief about Adele (I'm still mad at him about what he said, he better make up for it next time).

I was hoping Bailey would continue tweeting, though. I just went to her profile and saw nothing new...

1) I don't think it was jealousy. There was just a well meant "this guy is a loser" warning.
And please, don't call him Denny 2.0. I like him. He's cool. Calling him Denny 2.0 is kinda degrading.

2) I love crazy hormonal Callie! Well, I love any kind of Callie :). As long as they won't over-do it.

3) You're right, there wasn't much of quite a few characters. But like you, I find it okay. It's a big cast, it's hard to find something for everyone in each ep.

4) Haha, yeah. Like I said, those two were awesome.

5) I was soooo proud of him in that moment :)

6) Hmm, not enough followers or something? I was thinking about whether the tweeting thing will be a one-episode gimmick or something permanent. It seems it's just a one-ep gimmick.

"Character limits....."
And I loved the speech at the end - I love the ones about living, dying and love the most. It really tensed up the environment with the whole you-only-have-3600-seconds-to-save-a-life thing....

Some of my favorites are definitely the one Derek gave in the season 6 finale and the one Meredith gave in the season 5 finale:

The human life is made up of choices. Yes or no. In or out. Up or down. And then there are the choices that matter. Love or hate. To be a hero or to be a coward. To fight or to give in. To live. Or die. Live or die. That's the important choice. And it's not always in our hands.

"Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."

I know, I know.... kind of off topic but....

1) Just changed it to Henry :) I just call him that because I think something like what happened between Izzie and Denny is going to happen with these two, since Henry is very ill and Teddy is a doctor and they are "together" in a sense. But yeah, William was a loser, I actually thought she wasn't gonna go out with him after what Henry told her but it was her decision.... And I do agree, Henry is cool :D

2) I really wish it wasn't a one-episode thing..... What she wrote was so funny :P

Wow, you guys SuperJ and Gusar can surely make a thread come alive, just the two of you! And FithKazeKageForever isn't even here yet!

About Karev and Lucy, Gusar, I told you! ;)

I gotta say I was somewhat expecting a little more intense drama here being the theme it was. I know that patient died and all, but the rest was a little too smooth for Meredith's Golden Hour, imho... I surely enjoyed the episode, though. Not question about that! I always do!

Bailey provided some of the humor again, and she acted all silly again. Eli does that. She is totally conflicted between giving up to Eli and keeping up her professionalism at the job. I hope they don't make her this silly forever, though. I want to see Bailey in charge and command again, Twitter or no Twitter.

The elevator MerDer scene, at first I was also like "gross"! "I'll be in and out"?! Whut?! But then, yeah. They sure had me going there! LOL

Oh, and after this, you can also tell that Henry and Teddy are going to be a thing.
What's so wrong with a guy driving with gloves, though? I know it's kind of too fancy and all, but still...

Final question: why would Callie really want Yang to be her baby's godmother? Why would anybody (besides Meredith, that is)? I wonder...

Indeed.
Not to worry too much, though, because it seems Adelle will back to the hospital right on next week's episode, so maybe then Webber will see how he was wrong and maybe give Meredith some credit.
As a matter of fact, I think Webber is mostly in denial right now...

Anyways, as I said, it's gonna be painful for Adelle next week. Literally shot to the face:

1) I seriously think something is going to happen between them, the elevator is classic Grey's for character relationships. And Lucy is starting to see how sweet Alex can be when he isn't an ass. I really wish Izzie would come back (I know it's random I just watched the last 5 minutes of "Now or Never", the season 5 finale and just miss her loads.... And George..... I can't believe he died....) :'(

2) I love how Bailey reacts when she is around Eli :P It's just so funny how "puckish" she is when they are together. I mean, the last person I thought I would ever see in the on-call room was Bailey (ok, no it wasn't - the Chief was but anyway.....) ;)

3) Seconded. I totally agree. And besides, Henry is so sweet to her <3

4) Well, Callie was one of the brides maids to her wedding to Burke, they lived together, she helped Callie when Arizona left (well, they helped each other - Cristina was taken shopping by Callie, and in turn, she cut Callie's hair), she also tried to help Callie when Hahn left even though Mark told her she didn't have to because he was there. The point is, they are good friends. Not as good as Meredith and Cristina, but Cristina is probably the best friend she has after Mark that isn't her girlfriend....

And I know, again, completely off topic but OMG!! I just watched the promo for next week's episode and I can't believe that Meredith might be partially blind!!

GREY'S ANATOMY - "Not Responsible" - Meredith must choose between her fertility treatments and her eyesight when she begins having trouble seeing, Mark makes it clear to Callie and Arizona that he takes his role as father-to-be very seriously, and April discovers there's more to Dr. Stark than first appears, on "Grey's Anatomy," THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 24 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

1) Yeah, yeah. I just thought maybe Shonda would surprise me by not being predictable for once. But it's ok, Lucy is hardcore, if Karev will behave like an ass, she won't have inhibitions to tell him where to shove it :). So it should be a fun relationship.

2) It's pretentious. And if I go hit the dictionary, I'm sure I could find more fitting words to describe what it is :)

3) Callie and Christina did live together for a while. Their friendship may be different than other friendships you see on the show, but it's there.

4) Yep, classic denial. Probably because the thought of Adelle having Alzheimer's scares the crap out of him.

5) Oh yeah. It's very fun to watch. Especially when she goes "We will *not* do this or that" and he always just ignores it. And he always wins :)

I heard April is going to have a love interest. Maybe it's Stark.... He better be nicer than what he appears because so far, I don't particularly like him.....
Besides, hasn't Alex taken over all of the pediatric surgeries, and wasn't it Arizona that performed a procedure on the kid after Alex said a stupid nickname and was taken of the case? I haven't seen him at all in the past couple of episodes....

It wasn't the heart, his aorta went *puff*. But no, I don't know exactly what happened, they didn't explain it. Just that it's very hard to spot the problem, and when you do, it's already too late.
