"Well will anyone miss Izzy?"
Well, now that we are 99% sure she's gone for good, I gotta say I used to like Izzie's character a lot because she was very humane towards the patients and had a more emotional approach to the job that others found unimportant or even harmful. Even when this side of her hurt her, she always prevailed and came out on top.

However, I lost that a bit in the end because of the unjustified and mostly unexplained way she left Alex and basically the show. The plot supported her leaving, but I didn't like it, and it hurt the character for me. I heard the show's ratings have suffered since then...

I don't think I'm going to miss her I used to love her character but not so much this last season. Also I don't particularly like Heigl she seems quite whingy in real life. Do you find this valuable?

Heh, given the circumstances she apparently left the show, I'd say she will not miss it either.
She had her definite rise for fame on Grey's already. She was already known before, but now... wow...

I wish her good luck. I don't know about anything significantly negative from her real life, so nothing against her for me. It's in the nature of a long running show like this to eventually renew its characters. I guess only Pompeo will have to stay indefinitely. Let's just say it wouldn't exactly be the same show without her.

Oh gosh I hope not I can deal with Izzy going easily but never Meredeath,Christina or Bailey! I thought she came across quite whingy complaining about her work scheduale in Grey's esp in times where people would be happy of a job never mind the kind she was fortunate enough to have. Heh, I said the show would not be the same without Pompeo because she plays Meredith Grey and the show is called "Grey's Anatomy", so...
It's not because I particularly like the character, because truth is I don't, not that much. I prefer almost any other of the regulars over Meredith. I feel she is basically and mostly just... bland... I dunno...

About Heigl's schedule, well, she complained about 17 hour work days, so I can relate to that, no matter how much they pay you or how much you have the show to thank for your fame. She wants to move on. Do movies now. In this sort of business, they have to take their chances when they come along.

you make a good point here. izzie used to be great but these last few seasons she seems to be losing popularity, maybe not to everyone but defintely me. the reason being that she seems to have a 5 metre radius around her and anyone who steps into that either dies or has bad relationship problems...that may sound harsh but think about it...Denny? George? Alex?

Well, to me, that 5 meter radius around her was the way they wrote her character, in order to provide drama and contradiction with her inner nature. I mean, she was a good and caring loving person (as opposed to several of the other regular surgeons on the show), but in the end she always striked out in relationships somehow. This is a common plot device in movies and tv shows to make us care for character and feel sorry for her. Shouldn't be the other way around.

Besides, we also cannot forget that the tagline for this show is "Operations. Relations. Complications". The latter ones are always bound to come by, specially to those we may come least to expect it.

And in the end, none of this I posted has got anything to do with Katherine Heigl as a real life person in the first place...

That's the tagline for the show indeed, at least according to IMDB.

I guess the closest thing you have to Izzie now is maybe Lexie, as the good nature soft hearted all-round good and nice girl, and maybe a more innocent one at that.
Btw, we only got a glimpse of her on this latest episode, she remains blond (=_=), but what was up with that intense tan now?! Am I seing things here?

Anyway, I hope they never totally replicate another Izzie and remain as original as possible. I know it's hard since the show has been going on for quite a while now and new stuff must be harder and harder to come by, but still... I have faith in Shonda.

It's the new, post-Sloan Lexie. Some find it hot. Well, the girl is hot, I guess, whether she's blond or not, but it just isn't natural right now. Mark himself (unwillingly) liked it.

Yeah, I remember Mark didn't know it was Lexie when he hit on her blond "version".

By saying you are blond yourself, I should assume you're a girl, right? I mean, it's weird I don't even know this basic information, and I saw your recently filled out profile page (kudos to you, btw), but I still couldn't tell that much for sure...

Yeah, there's indeed a signifcant age gap between us, but what really brings people together and discussing on sites like this is a topic and a fandom in common, like a tv show, regardless of all the personal differences in the so-called real life.
