Grey's renewed for a season 8
"Another actress as Meredith?..." Are you nuts?
No, the only possibilities are Lexie becomes the Grey in the title of the show (though I can't see that working), or they try to continue without Meredith. Which I'm not sure how it'd work either. Nah, most likely they'd wrap up the show and be done with it.
And yeah, it's totally understandable if she were to quit, to dedicate her time to her child. Not just understandable, but worthy of admiration even. Holly Marie Combs did it. I had to wait almost five years to see her on screen again. But unlike several crazies at the IMDB forums with their self-entitlement, as if Holly owes them something, I respected Holly's decision. No doubt there will be the same kind of crazies with Ellen.

Katherine Heigle Gone?
"thats the tagline for the show?!?! i knew that...well it may have built her character but it broke it too...although i will miss the one person one the show who always got too connected to the patients i wonder if any one will take over that? and if they do, who?" That's the tagline for the show indeed, at least according to IMDB.
I guess the closest thing you have to Izzie now is maybe Lexie, as the good nature soft hearted all-round good and nice girl, and maybe a more innocent one at that.
Btw, we only got a glimpse of her on this latest episode, she remains blond (=_=), but what was up with that intense tan now?! Am I seing things here?
Anyway, I hope they never totally replicate another Izzie and remain as original as possible. I know it's hard since the show has been going on for quite a while now and new stuff must be harder and harder to come by, but still... I have faith in Shonda.

But otherwise you're totally right, this ep was just dark and only dark and even more dark.
4) December? Try January. I wish I was kidding, but nope. No new eps until January." 1) I knew it. This almost always happens when they kill important characters off. The actors move on and have better things to do, it seems.
2) I see what you mean. Indeed Owen didn't have to even be in that OR and lie to Teddy so much. He could just have left her to finish her surgery and then tell her in the end. I understand the fact that she couldn't really be interrupted, though.
3) I had forgotten about that. Indeed that was basically the only light-hearted part of the whole episode, even though it was also in the midst of Derek and Meredith loosing Zola... I trust this won't be final and the case will still turn around in Meredith and Derek's favor, though.
4) I had seen December on IMDB, but now it seems it's indeed January 2012. I had no idea this episode would turn out to be a mid-season finale, but I guess it figures, from all we've seen. This was almost season finale material if you ask me... Too intense and some huge cliffhangers...

I checked her imdb page and, Losa you'll find this interesting, she was in TSCC, in the To The Lighthouse ep. I don't have the DVDs here right now though, to check her out. But I must say, purely from the looks perspective, awesome choice for Callie's mother.
