Relationship Time Line
Season 2
  • Denny and Izzie became very close when Denny was admitted to Seattle Grace Mercy West.
  • Izzie knitted Denny a sweater and she wore it to leave her scent on it.
  • Denny and Izzie played scrabble and were flirting with the words they would make up like "screw".
  • Izzie wanting Denny to get the much needed heart transplant, cut his LVAD wire to make Denny's case more critical.
  • Denny indeed became very worse and he got the transplant that he needed.
  • While fight to live after the LVAD was cut and the time he got his transplant Denny asks Izzie to marry him, she said yes.
  • Denny gets his heart transplant and Izzie said I need to go and get dressed for prom.
  • While Izzie was home trying on dress after dress to impress Denny, Denny had a stroke and died.
  • They said he threw a clot which caused him to have a stroke.
Season 5
  • During season 5, Denny came back as Izzie's hallucination.
  • Izzie had sex with Denny, she had tactile hallucinations caused by stage 4 melanoma.
  • Denny kept on insisting he was there for her, which Izzie didn't understand. Until she was with a patient months later and realized what Denny was saying he wasn't there for her he was there to support her.
  • Izzie told Denny to leave and she never saw her hallucination again for a little while at least.
  • Denny came back one last time as another tumor on Izzie's brain, Derek was able to remove it.

  • Denny: "No, no. We're taking turns. I've decided. It's polite and it keeps me from yelling. When it's your turn again, you can talk. For five years, I've had to live by the choices of my doctors. The guys that cut me open decided my life. There wasn't one choice that was mine. Now, I have this heart that beats, that works. I get to be like everybody else, I get to make my own decisions, have my own life, do whatever the damn hell I choose. Now here's the good part, so you listen close. What I choose... is you. You're who I want to wake up with and go to bed with and do everything in between with. I get a choice now. I get to choose. I choose you, Izzie Stevens. Okay, it's your turn again."
  • Denny: "What? You like your men sick and feeble? You don't dig healthy guys?"
    Izzie: "I dig you."

    Izzie: "Yes?"
    Denny: "Would it be really inappropriate for me to feel you up right now?
    Izzie: "Not really."

    Denny: "You knit me a sweater?"
    Izzie: "Smell it."
    Denny: [breathes deeply, smiles] "Smells like Izzie."
    Izzie: "I wore it for three hours. You know, to give it the full effect. So enjoy, because that's the closest to this body that you will ever get."
    Denny: [pauses] "Can I at least see one boob?"
