- Fell in love with Meredith Grey
- Was nominated by Dr. Preston Burke as the "Intern who showed the most promise" and scrubbed into an Appendectomy, made a mistake by tearing the purse strings, and got himself pegged by Alex and the other interns as "007", "License to Kill".
- He became Burke's intern, whenever George was having a problem with a patient, Burke would step in and show George how to do it, like intubation and inserting an IV needle.
- Moved out of his parent's house into Meredith's house with Izzie.
- Began a meaningless relationship with Nurse Olivia, got Syph from her, it was given to her by Alex Karev.
- George, a pacifist, punches Alex Karev in rage and get's a new nickname "Champ"

- When Joe the bartender needs an expensive operation, George goes out of his way to get financial aid for Joe.
- He becomes the guy in the elevator, when Alex chickens out on opening the police officer's chest and plug the hole in his heart. Burke tells George - O'Malley you just flew solo.
- Finally gets to sleep with Meredith, but it nearly ruins their friendship.
- Dr Burke takes George home and he becomes Cristina's room mate.

- His father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and shortly afterwards died.

- Is repeating his internship at Seattle Grace Hospital in Season Four but news comes to light that he only failed his exam by 1 point. At the end of Season 4 he was given the opportunity to retake his exam as opposed to repeating his entire internship.

- George enlists into the army
- George goes and tells Dr Webber that he enlisted, Richard gives George the rest of the day off, he tells him to go home and spend some time with his family.
- On his way home George passed a bus stop and pushes a stranger out of the way and was hit by the bus while saving the girl, who we find out later is Amanda.
- George is rushed to the hospital, but because he lost his wallet in the accident, he is given the norm "John Doe".
- All the doctors work hard to save "John Doe", at one point he wakes and tries to write, but he is too weak and passes out.
- Amanda sits by his bedside till Meredith tells her it's time for you to go.
- At this time "John Doe" awakes again and this time he uses his finger and draws an O and then an another O and then a 7, Meredith repeats it when John Doe rewrites it in her palm OO7, when she finishes saying 007 George squeezes her hand letting her know that yes, it's me George. Meredith is shocked and runs out of George's room to tell all the attendings that "John Doe" is George. News spreads around the hospital.
- George is rushed back to the OR but sadly he is brain dead. They ask is he a organ donor.

- George is pronounce brain dead.
- They wait for George's mother to arrive and she tells Callie she has to make the decision whether to donate George's organs.
- Callie goes to speak to Arizona then in turn goes to Izzie and they decide together that George would give everything to save a life.
- George's mother goes to Seattle Grace to find answers on why her son joined the army in wartime, and Dr Webber told her she should ask Dr Hunt.

| George won praise among the entire hospital staff for saving a man's life in an elevator during a power failure. With Dr. Burke talking him through it, George stopped the bleeding in a patient's heart single-handedly after Alex choked under pressure! |
