Character Backstory
Season 1
  • Met Meredith in a bar (Joe's) and had a one night stand. Neither knew who the other was until the next morning when they met at the hospital; he was an attending, she an intern. They dated until his wife, Addison Montgomery Shepherd, showed up at the end of the season.
Season 2
  • Was torn between Meredith and his wife. Initially he and Addison filed for divorce but when it came time to sign them, Derek couldn't. He still loved his wife but he loved Meredith as well. Meredith begged him to pick her, choose her but he choose Addison. At the end of the season, he slept with Meredith and at the end, asked her to choose between him and Finn.
Season 3
  • Derek and Addison divorced and Derek and Meredith got back together. Derek saved Meredith from drowning and it was a life altering experience for both of them.
Season 4
  • Finally "gave up" on Meredith and decided to play the field. He ended up with Nurse Rose but really thought about Meredith. In the season finale, he and Meredith got back together and he left Meredith to end things with Rose.

I love derek! BUT i really hope him and lexie dont get together! if he breaks merediths heart again then i'l have no choice but to hate him!
If their relationship HAS to end then i hope meredith breaks up with him and not the other way around!

ANTWAY, i love love love when derek pulls meredith out of the lake, its so sweet!
