Recap of Events:
Previously, on Grey’s Anatomy, the Seattle Grace resident competed in a surgical competition, which Meredith won. Cristina was overly jealous with Callie's close relationship with Hahn. George decides that he wants to continue living with Lexie.
Bailey is the first to greet Addison and welcome her back to Seattle Grace. Addison reminds her (and the viewers) that she won’t be staying long. Inside, she has an awkward reunion with Meredith and Derek. She is under the mistaken assumption that the two are still together. Sloan propositions her for sex – at least some things haven’t changed.
Izzie is thrown when she finds out that her interns were at a party at George and Lexie’s the night before without her knowledge. The hikers from last week are back and Meredith decides to start her clinical trial on the patient with the brain tumor. Just as Addison and Alex are about to has things out, Ava/Rebecca shows up, pulls him aside, and blurts out that she’s pregnant. He bluntly asks her if she’s keeping it or having an abortion, then just walks away.
Bailey fills Addison on everything she’s missed since she’s been away. The doctors prepare two young parents for the surgery they’re about to do on their unborn child. The baby’s heart is growing on the outside of its body. Meredith’s patient keeps yelling out in appropriate things because of his tumor. He then bursts out laughing, saying that he can’t see anything and he’s gone blind.
Ava/Rebecca keeps paging Alex to talk things out with him but he refuses to enter into a conversation with her. Derek warns Meredith not to get attached to the patients involved in her clinical trial. Addison confronts Callie, asking if she's in a relationship with Erica, who starts freaking out at the question. Cristina tries to take Meredith's sparkle pager in a very amusing lunchroom scene (it's worth watching the episode for).
Izzie informs a couple that they're pregnant but they immediately break down and say they need an abortion. The mother reveals that she's HIV-positive and wants to proceed with the abortion immediately. Meredith stops into her therapist's office, quickly vents about Derek, and heads back out to prepare for surgery. In another surgery, Addison meets Rose for the first time. Izzie tries to convince her couple that they can have a healthy baby but the mother doesn't want to hear anything about it. She tells Izzie to schedule it and not to come back, that she wants a different doctor.
After getting some advice from Derek, the man with the tumor tells his wife to find happiness if he doesn't make it through the surgery. In surgery, the baby that Addison was working on began hemorrhaging. George tells Izzie the harsh truth that the interns don't want to hang out with her because she's their boss. She grabs her interns and finds the two parents she was working with and tells them that there is a 98% chance that their baby will be born healthy.
Hahn lets Cristina in on the surgery at Callie's request. She massages the baby's heart as they get him stabilized. Derek and Meredith inject a virus directly into their patient's tumor. The baby's surgery is successful thanks to Hahn, Sloan, Bailey, Addison, Alex, and Cristina. Meredith and Derek lose their patient.
In a little down time, Bailey finally opens up to Addison, letting her know that Tucker has moved out but she won't talk about it. If she talks about it, she'll fall apart. Webber tries to get Addison to come back to Seattle Grace but she says that she was right to leave. George finds Izzie, saying he'd rather be with her than the other interns. She tells him to go out and he does. Derek ends up the elevator with Meredith, Addison, and Rose all at the same time. At the next stop, a very amused Sloan gets on.
Cristina finally confronts Erica at the bar to find out why she ignores her. The answer is simple: stop seeking her approval. Addison realizes that Erica is in love with Callie. Callie, however, chooses to make a bold statement by leaving the bar with Sloan. Addison lectures Meredith for letting Derek get away. Izzie finds out that Rebecca is not pregnant and was lying to get Alex's attention.
